Episode 71

Things I Wish I Knew Early on as a Safety Professional

In this episode, Ted is joined by Chris Seider and Brad Herda, where they discuss all about safety professionals. Constantly preparing yourself is key to being successful in the role and everybody in an organization should be aware of safety procedures. Chris shares his biggest regret of not having enough foresight to spread the wealth of knowledge and responsibility when he left his previous company, causing the culture to rapidly decline without him. He advises safety professionals to mind their passion and energy for safety, and to find the legitimate reasons why they're pursuing this field. He also suggests that they focus on building followship, so that people will want to follow their lead. Brad speaks of the importance of involving everyone in an organization in safety initiatives, rather than just those with "safety" in their title. Tune in to hear about the importance of preparation and constant polishing of skills in order to be ready for any situation that may arise.
